Candrani Yulis
Candrani Yulis (lahir 1995), seorang seniman dari Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dia lulusan Desain Komunikasi Visual dari Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. Sebagai seniman muda, Candrani menggunakan berbagai media, seperti instalasi, gambar, dan video, untuk menerjemahkan temuannya menjadi karya seni dan terlibat dengan ingatan kolektif publik tentang sejarah dan posisi perempuan dalam masyarakat, memprovokasi pertanyaan kritis tentang identitas sebagai gerakan simbolik dalam kehidupan kontemporer. Sebagai perempuan muda, dia mencoba berbicara dengan berani dalam meninjau kembali sistem religi yang dia jalani. Praktik seni Candrani signifikan dan kontekstual dengan situasi saat ini, karena masyarakat Indonesia menghadapi tantangan besar di mana agama telah menjadi instrumen elit politik dalam memperebutkan kekuasaan. Candrani telah mengikuti beberapa pameran, seperti Artjog (2023), Asana Bina Seni oleh Biennale Yogyakarta (2021), dan pameran bersama Cemeti Institute for Art and Society (2020–2021). Dia merupakan finalis Bandung Contemporary Art Award (2022) dan salah satu penerima Prince Clause Seed Award (2022). Candrani juga telah mengerjakan beberapa penelitian independen yang membahas tentang masalah jilbab.

Candrani Yulis (b. 1995) is an artist from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She is a visual communication design graduate from Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. As a young artist, Candrani uses various media such as installations, drawings, and videos, to translate her discoveries into artistic works and engage with the collective public memory of history and the position of women in society. Her work provokes critical questions about identity as a symbolic movement in contemporary life. As a young woman, she courageously seeks to reevaluate the religious system she follows. Candrani’s art practice is highly significant and contextual in the current situation, as Indonesian society faces significant challenges where religion has become an instrument of elite politics in the struggle for power. Candrani has participated in several exhibitions, including Artjog (2023), Asana Bina Seni by Biennale Yogyakarta (2021), also group exhibitions at Cemeti Institute for Art and Society (2020–2021). She was a finalist at the Bandung Contemporary Art Award (2022) as well as a recipient of the Prince Claus Seed Award (2022). Candrani has also conducted several independent research projects addressing issues related to the hijab.
