Nessa Theo

Nessa Theo (lahir 2001) adalah seorang seniman dari Pontianak dengan minat pada sejarah, gender, identitas, dan praktik dekolonisasi. Ia menggabungkan penelusuran sejarah dan kerangka dekolonisasi sebagai dasar praktik seninya. Ia berusaha untuk menangkap struktur kekuasaan dari yang sublim, melihat kompleksitas antara subjek, dan lebih lanjut mengungkapkan dikotomi antara penindas dan yang ditindas. Medium seni yang telah menjadi pilihan eksplorasi seninya adalah lukisan, gambar, instalasi, dan kolase arsip.

Nessa Theo (born 2001) is an artist from Pontianak, Indonesia, with interests in history, gender, identity and decolonization practices. She combines historical tracing and decolonization frameworks as the foundation of her artistic practice. She tries to capture the power structure from the sublime, see the complexity among subjects, and further unravel the dichotomy between the oppressor and the oppressed. The mediums of choice for her artistic exploration so far are painting, drawing, installation, and archival collage.
